Effective ICT Planning

Dominion Road School - Auckland

Been in Active Eden Cluster with Pam Hook Old way previously Three stages - getting started, exploring, extending

Broken up into sections, ie multimedia Problem being that no context in which to support and teach the skills Then went to Unit plans - standalone with no aos as no document. Linked learning intentions to multiple intelligences to learning experiences and teaching sequence and assessment.

Made ICT a standalone that stood by iteself and was a thing people "did" No linking back to class learning programmes etc

Then moved to an ICT Overview

Broken into Terms & focused on software for each term. Each team then created plans around those things. School wide everyone was doing that thing. Could then deliver PD for staff. Didn't provide freedom for teachers. What if it had no relevance? Didn't have links back even though they linkedd with the topics studied

Used Hooked on thinking Differentiation Framework - linked into SOLO (from Pam) - integrated curriculum plan

Noticed now the second spelling mistake!!!

Set the learning intentions based around the verbs from each stage of SOLO

ICT to enhance conditions for bringing in ideas ICT ideas must link to our topic and not to be a standalone activity. Must enhance the learning

Used Filters4Thinking Maps from Pam Hook

"ICT to enhance conditions for learning" and then under have all the ICT activities - match up to learning intentions and then brainstorm and put under to enhance the learning of each learning intention. All ideas added into the pot.

UNIT LEARNING INTENTION - ICT activities for each underneath

Shift - all teachers have ownership, all teachers have contributed an idea for the plan

All ICT linked to current classroom learning programmes

Hyperlink from plans to skill videos etc - or skill lists

Work with each syndicate to plan their learning experiences - or do as wholes school first

Do kids know how to use ICTs to help meet the learning outcome - eg to describe, two different ways to help define ideas etc etc. Not focus on software etc
